Federal Territories Minister Zulhasnan Rafique said today that only the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong can appoint the Kuala Lumpur City Hall mayor and the City Hall Advisory Board members.
The Opposition won 10 out of 11 parliamentary seats in Kuala Lumpur except for Setiawangsa on the March 8 General Election.
Zulhasnan also stressed in the press conference that Kuala Lumpur falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government as stipulated in the Constitution (Amendment) (No 2) Act 1973 while the appointments of KL Mayor were subject to the Federal Capital Act 1960 (Act 190).
