DAP Elected Representatives Are 65 Millions Dallor Men?

The MP for Ipoh Barat and national vice-chairman M. Kulasegaran said today that elected representatives of the DAP are not for sale!

V. Sivakumar the Tronoh assemblyman lodged a report at the Ipoh police district police yesterday.

Sivakumar claimed that he had been deluged with offers of RM65 millions cash and a state executive councillor post to change political parties after March 8 general election but the offer drop to RM10 millions cash with a state exco post yesterday.

Sivakumar told reporters here yesterday that not only was he harassed over the phone and through SMSes, some quarters claiming to be supporters of some political parties even went to his house to persuade him.

Dr Woo Wing Thye, 54, graduated from Harvard University in 1982 with a PhD in economics is now a member of the new state government economic think-tank.

The think-tank is expected to advice Penang state economic programme, which is aimed at creating blue ocean strategies and drawing fresh investments into the state.

Dr Woo is now Professor in the Economics Department at the University of California, Davis and a Senior Fellow in the Global Economy and Development Programme and the Foreign Policy Studies Programme at Brookings Institution. He is also the Director of the East Asia Programme within the Centre for Globalisation and Sustainable Development at Columbia University.

ACA Re-study Asset Declaration Models?

The Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) will look at various models of asset declaration in Hong Kong, Singapore, UK and Australia to come out with a new asset declaration model for cabinet ministers and deputy ministers to declare their assets.

ACA is now into models which practiced in ICAC (Hong Kong), CPIB (Singapore), Britain and ICAC (NSW, Australia).

Live Telecast Of Parliament Proceedings At Dewan Rakyat

The Cabinet had approved the live telecast of the proceedings – during question time – to be shown from 10am to 10.30am everyday over RTM1 from April 30. The information minister said today the live telecast would be extended if there was positive feedback.

The information minister also said that there will be no censorship and those who speak in Parliament are all MPs and it is open to Opposition and Barisan Nasional MPs.

Biotech Master Plan (2005-2020) Is On Track?

According to Science Technology and Innovation Minister Dr Maximus Ongkili, the first phase of the Biotech Master Plan (2005-2020) is on track.

Currently there were 56 BioNexus-status companies, and about 70 more companies were being targeted to achieve the status by year-end.

The total investment to date is RM1billion from the 56 companies and The Malaysian Biotechnology Corp Sdn Bhd (BiotechCorp) are targeting RM20 billions by 2010. The BiotechCorp also targeting 40,000 knowledge workers by 2010.

PM: Why Sould I Resign?

As reported by Bernama today the prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi reiterated that he would not run away from his responsibilities.

"I am here. I am here. I am here. They make all the speculations that I want to run away, I've resigned. Why should I resign?"

"My Government has got a strong majority (although) not the twothirds (majority), but very strong...that is the stand of support."

The BN lost its two-thirds majority in Parliament, winning only 140 of the 222 parliamentary while the Opposition captured 82 seats.

BN also lost control of Penang, Perak, Selangor and Kedah and the majority of seats in the Federal territory besides failing to wrest Kelantan from PAS.

PKR, PAS, DAP to form Pakatan Rakyat

The PKR adviser Anwar Ibrahim, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and PAS presidentAbdul Hadi Awang announce at the press conference today that PKR, DAP and PAS have proposed to consolidate the cooperation between the three parties by forming the "Pakatan Rakyat".

Accroding to Anwar, the Pakatan Rakyat will work towards common principles such as justice, good governance, human rights, accountability and transparency.

A joint secretariat would be tasked with building the foundation and framework of the Pakatan Rakyat and a convention for all Pakatan Rakyat MPs and state assemblymen would be held on April 27 and that the name Pakatan Rakyat was still pending confirmation by the respective parties.
